news photoUMA/P1-AFR inches closer to a Championship Going into the latest rounds at the Dubai Autodrome for the 2007-08 Lumina CSV Series, UMA Motor Sports/P1 AFR was gaining ground on the Championship leaders, and the latest results moved them even closer. Abdul Aziz Al-Ya’eesh gained valuable Driver Championship points by standing on the podium in 2nd place after loosing the race lead on the final lap, but quickly made up for the small error by answering any questions of his ability behind the wheel in winning the final race of the weekend. The race win was even more impressive as he had to start in 7th position on the grid and quickly made up ground on the leaders with the help of teammate Fahad Hizam who took the green from pole position. Hizam had his best race result of the season by finishing in 5th position in race two. This was the second race this season that Hizam has started from pole position, and has been a great teammate to Al Ya’eesh all season in giving him great support on track whenever possible. The weekend finished with a race win and another podium for Al Ya’eesh, and a top 5 and two top 10 finishes for Hizam. The tandem has one goal in mind, and that is to win both the Team and Drivers Championships this season in the competitive Lumina CSV Series. They are now 2nd and 7th in the Drivers Points and a scant 4 points off the lead for the Team Championship. UMA/P1-AFR has brought on the assistance of driver coach David Ovey this season, and he has been a great help to both drivers each round this season. Another addition is the help of Malcom Edeson, who has been analyzing the teams’ data this season. This pair has been a valuable asset in keeping the UMA/P1-AFR drivers at the top of their game, showing how to get every ounce of time possible on the track, and in maintaining consistent times throughout the race.
